DOMUS AD ADVENTUM MERX

Advent is the beginning of the Western liturgical year, it is a season observed in many Christian Churches as a time of expectant waiting and preparation for the celebration of the Nativity of Jesus at Christmas. It is unknown when the period of preparation for Christmas that is now called Advent first began – but from the oldest records it has always involved material overindulgence, familial strife, and “a certain gluttony of self loathing,” as Carol of Exurbia recorded.

Or it can be the moving together through a kind of mounting hope to the festival of the audacious inbreaking of an overwhelming love and mercy

The Nativity in the Gospel of Luke: a deconstruction of hope
